Are you struggling to juggle your busy life with ADHD, anxiety, mood instability, or other mental health challenges? Is the unprocessed grief of your past traumas interfering with your goals? I am here to help, with a compassionate, safe, and inclusive, therapy practice tailored to your specific needs and goals.
Navigating a full, busy life with ADHD is challenging! When you struggle to keep track of details and time management, tasks pile up and you may become paralyzed with responsibilities and expectations. This triggers a shame cycle that perpetuates these problems. It's time to ditch the shame and create a system that works for you!
I offer goal-oriented, practical guidance and support for patients with ADHD. We will take stock of your needs, struggles, and strengths to develop routines and organizational structures that leave you feeling fulfilled, empowered, and ready to take on your day.
I offer virtual and in-person therapy from a nonjudgmental and empathic client-centered approach seeded in psychodynamic theory. I integrate different techniques catered to each client using different modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Exposure and Response Prevention
I serve patients of all ages from teens to adults and elders (65+), from many walks of life. I am a safe, inclusive space for non-binary, transgender, queer and LGBTQIA+ individuals, and provide informed care through a social justice lens.
My specialties include depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and trauma. You can expect therapy with me to be validating, compassionate, and challenging. I am passionate about helping clients move toward the person they want to be and building the life they want to live to live through a balance of acceptance and change.

Allison Greven (she/her) is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) who received her Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from Loyola University Chicago in 2014. Prior to starting Lela Counseling, Allison worked as a therapist in group private practice and in a partial and intensive outpatient hospitalization program for adults struggling with mood and anxiety disorders. She has also worked in several community mental health settings serving adults and adolescents with a variety of needs including depression, anxiety, suicidality, self-harm, ADHD, psychosis, mood instability, attachment trauma and PTSD.
Typically the first session is structured as an intake session. You will be asked questions to gather information about family history, current symptoms, and therapy goals. After that, the structure of sessions is dependent on your needs and goals. Typically treatment goals are decided collaboratively with your therapist but ultimately Lela Counseling is client-centered, meaning you get to decide what you do or do not want to talk about in therapy.
Sessions are around 50 minutes, though this can vary depending on insurance. Therapy works best when it is consistent, which often means meeting on a weekly basis. Session frequency can be reduced to bi-weekly when appropriate.
Allison Greven, LCSW is licensed in Illinois and can see clients who live in the state. If you are seeing Allison via Telehealth clients can have flexibility in their location as long as they are located in Illinois during the session.
Telehealth is conducted through a HIPAA compliant video platform. You will need a secure internet connection, a computer or tablet with a camera and microphone, and private space.
I accept Aetna, BlueCross and BlueShield, Medicare, UnitedHealthcare UHC | UBH, and self-pay for uninsured patients. My fee for individual sessions is $180.
