I offer practical, supportive therapy for
neurodivergent individuals.
Neurodivergent is a neutral, umbrella term that describes people whose brains function differently from societal norms, and it includes many identities such as ADHD, autism, mood disorders, and psychosis. Together, we’ll look at your strengths, challenges, and goals, and create routines and systems that actually fit your life. My goal is to help you feel more empowered, less overwhelmed, and better supported as you move through your day.
Living in a neurodivergent brain, whether that includes ADHD, autism, mood disorders, psychosis, or other neurotypes, can make everyday life feel harder than it needs to be. When your brain doesn’t work the way society expects it to, things like time management, organization, emotional regulation, and meeting responsibilities can quickly become overwhelming. Tasks pile up, pressure builds, and it’s easy to fall into cycles of frustration and shame. Therapy isn’t about “fixing” you, it’s about understanding how your brain works and finding ways to support it.
I offer virtual therapy from a nonjudgmental and empathic client-centered approach seeded in psychodynamic theory. I integrate different techniques catered to each client using different modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Exposure and Response Prevention.
I serve patients of all ages from teens to adults and elders (65+), from many walks of life. I am a safe, inclusive space for non-binary, transgender, queer and LGBTQIA+ individuals, and provide informed care through a social justice lens.
My specialties include bipolar disorder, psychosis, ADHD, trauma, and other neurodivergent experiences. When we work together, you can expect a space that feels safe, validating, and compassionate, with gentle challenges that support growth. I am deeply committed to helping clients feel understood as they move toward the person they want to be and build a life that feels meaningful, authentic, and aligned with who they are through a thoughtful balance of acceptance and change.

Hi, I’m Allison Greven (she/her), a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I earned my Master of Social Work from Loyola University Chicago in 2014. Before starting Lela Counseling, I worked in group private practice and in partial and intensive outpatient programs, supporting adults through mood and anxiety challenges.
I've also spent time in community mental health settings, where I worked with folks navigating depression, anxiety, suicidality, self-harm, psychosis, mood instability, and trauma. Those experiences shaped how I work today, showing up with warmth, curiosity, and a belief that therapy works best when you feel seen, supported, and met exactly where you are.
Typically the first session is structured as an intake session. You will be asked questions to gather information about family history, current symptoms, and therapy goals. After that, the structure of sessions is dependent on your needs and goals. Typically treatment goals are decided collaboratively with your therapist but ultimately Lela Counseling is client-centered, meaning you get to decide what you do or do not want to talk about in therapy.
Sessions are around 50 minutes, though this can vary depending on insurance. Therapy works best when it is consistent, which often means meeting on a weekly basis. Session frequency can be reduced to bi-weekly when appropriate.
Allison Greven, LCSW is licensed in Illinois and can see clients who live in the state. If you are seeing Allison via Telehealth clients can have flexibility in their location as long as they are located in Illinois during the session.
Telehealth is conducted through a HIPAA compliant video platform. You will need a secure internet connection, a computer or tablet with a camera and microphone, and private space.
I accept Aetna, BlueCross and BlueShield, Medicare, UnitedHealthcare UHC | UBH, and self-pay for uninsured patients. My fee for individual sessions is $180.
